چکیده
Purpose: Capsular related complications may occur during and/or following cataract s”rPew. Methods: We used endocapsular PUMA rings (EPR) to prevent such complications in eyes with pre or peroperative zonular c’ehiscence, high myopic eyes and eyes witl: exfoliation syndrome which have weak zonoles. EPR can be implanted easily through the phaco-incision before aspiration of the cortex or just before the injection of a foldable IOL. Results: The advantages of EPR are : to stabilize the bag ; to prevent the asymetrical retraction of the bag and thus prevents foldable IOL decentration : prevents the retraction of the anterior capsule observed with small capsulorhexis. More over EPR may provide a better quality of the vision by eliminating folds and wrinckles in the capsule and may delay the proliferation of lens epithelial cells and posterior capsule opacification in combination with antimetabolite drugs. Conclusion: The combination of rigid EPR with foldable IOL may represent a very safe surgical option to prevent capsular complications.

Scleral fixation using suture retrieval through a scleral tunnel.
Scleral fixation of intraocular lenses (IOLs) can be performed under the protection of a scleral flap. A variation of this technique uses a scleral tunnel for suture fixation to the eye. Passage of a double-armed suture through the roof of the scleral tunnel with subsequent retrieval of the suture ends through the external incision for tying facilitates scleral fixation. This modification offer...

متن کاملNegative dysphotopsia after temporal corneal incisions.
Temporal incisions made during cataract extraction have been purported to cause negative dysphotopsia. A case in which negative dysphotopsia occurred after superior scleral tunnel incisions is described. The dystopsia symptoms resolved immediately after intraocular lens exchange using temporal corneal incisions.

PURPOSE To compare the course and magnitude of change on the horizontal and vertical meridians of the cornea after 5 different incisions for cataract: extracapsular cataract extraction (ECCE), 6 mm superior scleral tunnel (6Sup), 3 mm superior scleral tunnel (3Sup), 3 mm temporal scleral tunnel (3Temp), and 3 mm temporal corneal incision (3Cor).
